research and Innovation

Research and innovation at the University of New Hampshire, a Carnegie doctoral research university with very high research activity, seek to understand and improve the world around us, with high-impact results that transform lives, solve global challenges and drive economic growth. Our research excellence reaches from the depths of our oceans to the edge of our solar system and the Earth and environment in which we all thrive. With FY25 externally funded research activity of more than $188 million, UNH’s research portfolio includes partnerships with NOAA, NASA, NSF and NIH. UNH is one of the top institutions in the country for licensing its intellectual property, and its outreach programs reach thousands of communities, companies, families and students each year.

Research and Innovation Employee of the Month — April

Louise Griffin, Associate Vice President & Chief Research Administration Officer, Sponsored Programs Administration

Running Sponsored Programs Administration takes a special kind of person. They have to have unmatched patience, a constant can-do attitude, shed negativity like a duck sheds water, and juggle more tasks than a master juggler has balls in the air. Louise Griffin is that combination. Over her years of service, she’s acquired the trust of the entire Research and Innovation office in addition to the UNH research community. This means that just about everyone turns to her when they need help or information. Her superpower is that she ALWAYS provides. And more amazingly, she provides with a smile that you can hear over the phone or Teams. She does hero work each and every day. People across campus describe Louise as a magician, goddess, miracle worker, friend, genius, and master. To Research and Innovation and UNH at large, she is indispensable.

Nominations for employee of the month are ongoing; please view award criteria and nominate at any time, here.
